M. Andrew Wohlfarth

Tax and Estate Planning Practice Area

Mr. Wohlfarth concentrates his practice on estate planning and the drafting of wills and trusts, specifically addressing issues related to federal and state estate, gift, and generation-skipping taxes as well as asset protection. He has had extensive experience with various estate planning tools, such as wills and revocable trusts which utilize the federal estate tax exemption amount,  irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), "Crummey" trusts, qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs), Tennessee asset protection trusts, Tennessee community property trusts, and grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs). 

In addition, Mr. Wohlfarth practices in the area of probate and estate administration, which includes preparing federal estate and state inheritance tax returns and assisting with all probate court requirements. Mr. Wohlfarth has also assisted clients with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns for individuals and trusts. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Wohlfarth served as a law clerk for the Hon. Alan E. Highers in the Tennessee Court of Appeals from 2003 to 2005. Licensed to practice law in Tennessee since 2003 and a member of the Memphis and Tennessee Bar Associations, Mr. Wohlfarth obtained his LL.M. degree in tax law from the University of Alabama.

Mr. Wohlfarth is also actively engaged in many civic organizations; he is member of the Church Council at St. John's United Methodist Church, a board member of the Phoenix Club of Memphis, and is on the Board of Trustees for Lausanne Collegiate School.
