Mr. Field is especially effective in representing U.S. and foreign-based clients who have intellectual property that is a strategic business asset, in assisting clients with their information management needs, and in helping his clients form and maintain strong contractual relationships.
He often functions as general counsel to his clients and has an extensive global network that enables him to utilize the skills of attorneys from both inside and outside his firm to form effective project teams. Having studied Japanese and Spanish, and handled business deals in over 35 countries, he has grown to appreciate the communication challenges posed by differing legal, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds, and he enjoys helping clients overcome these challenges and form lasting international relationships.

Mr. Field received his undergraduate degree in finance in 1980 from the University of Alabama, where he was honored with membership in the Financial Management Association's National Honor Society. He earned his law degree in 1983 from the University of Memphis, where he shared a best advocate award in a mock trial competition and was honored with an appointment to the Moot Court Board. After a brief stint as an associate in another Memphis-area law firm, Mr. Field served for six years as in-house counsel for Schering-Plough Corporation's Consumer Products Division, representing Plough, Maybelline, and Dr. Scholl's. He left Schering-Plough in 1990 and has been in private practice ever since. In recent years he has become active in Business Networks International, a global relationship marketing organization that operates under the "Givers Gain" principle.
Mr. Field is an active member of several professional, civic and religious organizations.
He is a sitting co-chair of the American Bar Association Section of International Law's Information Services and Technology and Data Protection Committee, and is a member of Canada Law and China Law Committees. He is also a past chair of the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law's Online Data, Transactions and Security Committee, and he is a past chair of the Memphis Bar Association's Continuing Legal Education Committee. Mr. Field is a graduate of master's program at the Leadership Academy in Memphis and remains active in academy initiatives.
Mr. Field enjoys scouting with his son, who is an Eagle candidate. Mr. Field is frequently on the sidelines at youth soccer, lacrosse, and basketball games, watching his son and daughter, and is an avid weekend fisherman and hunter.
