With over 20 years of international and U.S. experience in advising on legal and business matters, Rick is particularly concerned with those affecting regulated industries including the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.A., 1969) and University of Louisville (J.D., 1972), Mr. Duerr focuses his practice on corporate law and health care.
Previously, Mr. Duerr was a law clerk for the Hon. Pierce Lively of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He also served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Kentucky, where he was the chief appellate attorney. In addition, Mr. Duerr was vice president and general counsel of Sofamor Danek Group, Inc., a public medical device company.
Mr. Duerr has lectured throughout the U.S. and Europe on antitrust, intellectual property, litigation, securities law, and general business practices. He has also written articles on electronic commerce and intellectual property. Mr. Duerr serves on the boards of directors and the executive committees of Bellemont Group and the Society of International Business Fellows. He is on the advisory boards of Microgen Systems, Inc., and the International Center of the Beijing Institute of Technology. He is actively involved in the Global Executives Roundtable and University of Notre Dame alumni matters.
