Memphis Bar Foundation Welcomes Elizabeth Friary and Harley Steffens as 2025 Fellows

Memphis Area Attorneys and Judges Honored for Service to the Community & Legal Profession

Memphis TN – The Memphis Bar Foundation 2025 Fellows Reception was held recently at The Memphis Country Club and sponsored by Hobson Realtors. The Memphis Bar Foundation is the charitable foundation affiliated with the Memphis Bar Association. Elizabeth Friary and Harley Steffens join this prestigious group of individuals recognized for their service to the legal profession and the community.

“Being named a Memphis Bar Foundation Fellow is a tremendous honor,” says Vincent Miraglia, Memphis Bar Foundation President. “Approximately 1% of Memphis area attorneys are invited to join the Memphis Bar Foundation Fellows each year.”

Elizabeth Friary practices in the areas of employee benefits, estate planning, corporate law and other tax-related matters. She advises public pension plans, businesses and nonprofit organizations in all aspects of employee benefit plan design, implementation and administration.  Elizabeth has counseled clients on qualified and nonqualified benefit plans and welfare benefits plan issues. She also has significant experience representing public pension systems in connection with alternative investments, including investments in private equity, venture, credit, commingled real estate, infrastructure and hedge funds.

Harley Steffens’ practice, though focused in real estate, has included general corporate transactions, health care, and securities matters. Harley represents commercial real estate developers, public and private corporations, investment companies, family offices, and lending institutions including state and national banks and insurance companies. Development clients include local, regional, and national developers, as well as landlord and tenants in retail, industrial, and office leases.

The Foundation annually nominates attorneys and judges to become Fellows. Nominees are chosen based on their devoted and distinguished service to the legal profession and the administration of justice and their adherence to the highest standards of professional ethics and personal conduct. The Foundation awards grants to non-profit organizations to support law-related projects and programs that fall within its mission. These grants would not be possible without the financial support of our Foundation’s Fellows.
